Thank you for your interest in becoming a Global Shaper.
Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional and global challenges.
The GSC has three main pillars:
1) We work together towards positive social impact.
As Global Shapers, we work together on community-oriented projects. All active GSC members are required to contribute to projects to remain a part of our community. They are required to lead a project to completion in their first year as a Shaper. (Learn more about past projects here: http://goo.gl/7S12hn)
2) We connect to each other and fellow change-makers around the world.
We are a global network of over 7,000 members across 369 city-based hubs in 171 countries of the world. We connect and learn from each other locally; we host visiting Shapers in UYO from other Hubs; and we bond with local Shapers whenever we travel outside of UYO.
3) We represent young people at the table.
Over half of the worldʼs population is under the age of 27. Global Shapers are young leaders in our communities. In addition, each year, a select number of Global Shapers have the opportunity to represent young people at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, the WEF Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China, and other events.
As a Global Shaper, you will have the opportunity to:
CONNECT with other young leaders from Nigeria and beyond
Work with talented teammates on challenges that have a positive social IMPACT
ENGAGE with global thought leaders from the World Economic Forumʼs network
Apply to REPRESENT our community at Davos and Summer Davos.
As an active community, we push each other to work harder, grow faster, and make our community better. Before completing your Shapers application, kindly review our eligibility criteria and application process/timeline carefully as this forms a major part of your assessment. You can reach out to us at email@example.com.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND TIMELINE:
ROUND 1: Online Application (due July 26th, 2021)
Please complete the application before July 26, 2021. We will evaluate applications in two parts. First, our team will review and score based on eligibility, track record and points allotted to each question.
Applicants successful at this round will be required to submit a 6 min or less video, introducing themselves and the problem they would want to solve and why, how the problem will be addressed, resources required, timelines, outcomes and sustainability plan. This will set the pace for the next round of application.
ROUND 2: Complete a Micro-Project (due August 2nd, 2021)
Shapers take action on critical issues; big and small. This round of application is aimed at showcasing resilience, leadership and commitment to service which are some of the core values of the community. Each applicant will be required to lead and implement a micro-project addressing a core issue as stated in their earlier submitted video. Current Shapers will serve as mentors during the 2-week phase of this round.
Applicants will be evaluated by current Shapers based on the projectʼs potential for social impact; the approach you take, action plan, projected milestones and final outcomes, your overall persuasiveness, passion and your commitment to achieving desired reults.
ROUND 3: In-person Interviews (Dates TBD)
Finalists will be contacted for in-person interviews and a chance to participate in the Annual Shapers Retreat if accepted.
