Thank you for your interest in becoming a Global Shaper! An initiative of The World Economic Forum (WEF), the Global Shapers Community (GSC) is a network of young change-makers who are exceptional in their potential, achievement, and drive to make a contribution to our communities.
The GSC has three main pillars:
1) We work together towards positive social impact.
As Global Shapers, we work together on community-oriented projects. All active GSC members are required to contribute to projects to remain a part of our community. They are required to lead a project to completion in their first year as a Shaper. (Learn more about past projects here: http://goo.gl/7S12hn)
2) We connect to each other and fellow change-makers around the world.
We are a global network of over 7,000 members across 369 city-based hubs in 171 countries of the world. We connect and learn from each other locally; we host visiting Shapers in UYO from other Hubs; and we bond with local Shapers whenever we travel outside of UYO.
3) We represent young people at the table.
Over half of the worldʼs population is under the age of 27. Global Shapers are young leaders in our communities. In addition, each year, a select number of Global Shapers have the opportunity to represent young people at the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, the WEF Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China, and other events.
As a Global Shaper, you will have the opportunity to: -- Connect with other young leaders from Nigeria and beyond; -- Work with talented teammates on challenges that have a positive social impact; -- Engage with global thought leaders from the World Economic Forumʼs network; -- Apply to represent our community at Davos and Summer Davos.
We are an active community. We push each other to work harder, grow faster, and make our community better. In other words: we expect a lot from each other. While we strive to be inclusive in our events and projects, we are only able to take on a small number of new members each year. We are therefore very selective in accepting new members to our community.
Before completing your Shapers application, please review the below requirements, application process, and timeline. You can reach out to us at email@example.com.

**What would you do in one year with one team to have maximum social impact?**
In a presentation of 6 minutes or less, impress our judges by sharing the answer to this question. Please include: -- A statement of the problem -- what problem would you try to solve and why? -- How would you address the problem? -- What resources (teammates, partnerships, funding, etc.) would you need to address this problem? -- How would you know your approach was working? What outcomes, milestones, and final deliverables would you expect to see, and over what time horizon? -- What risks would the project entail?
Each presentation will have only 6 minutes followed by ~2 minutes of questions. We will not be able to allow for additional time -- so please plan your message carefully!
You will be evaluated by current Shapers based on the projectʼs potential for social impact; the approach you take, including the action plan, projected milestones and final outcomes, and partners/team; your overall persuasiveness and passion; and how you respond during Q&A.
